Rosary at Northbay Grotto: today is the Solemnity of the Assumption of Our Lady. Therefore there will be an outside Rosary at Northbay Grotto at 3pm. Maybe some of the housebound could be taken in a car and they can be near the Grotto. All welcome!

Recent Funerals: we remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of Duncan MacNeil (Dunnachadh Ruairidh of Garrygall) who passed away last Sunday in St. Brendan’s Hospital after a long illness at the age of 70. Duncan’s Requiem Mass too place in Our Lady Star of the Sea on Wednesday 10th August and afterwards Duncan was laid to rest in Cuithir Cemetery. We extend our prayers of sympathy to all the family and friends of Duncan. Fois shoiurruidh thoir dha a Thighearna, agus solus nach dìbir dearrsadh air. Gu’n robh fhois ann a’ sìth. Amen.

We also remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of Michael MacPhee (of Bruernish) who peacefully passed away in his own home in Bruernish last Wednesday. It was a short illness and we know that time was always precious for Michael but when the news spread that Michael had died –it came as a shock to many. Michael’s Requiem Mass took place on Saturday 13th August in St. Barr’s Northbay and thereafter Michael was laid to rest in Eoligarry graveyard. We extend our prayers of sympathy to Tina and all the family at this sad time. Fois shoiurruidh thoir dha a Thighearna, agus solus nach dìbir dearrsadh air. Gu’n robh fhois ann a’ sìth. Amen.

Canon William Fraser: it was nice to have Canon Fraser back on the island for this weekend. He travelled over to the island to attend the funeral of Michael MacPhee who he knew very well as Michael often went to Dalmally to the house of prayer. Canon Fraser extends his prayers and blessings to all.

Fr. Donald Campbell: was parish priest in St. Barr’s Northbay in 1991-1993 and many parishioners remember him. Recently he celebrated 50 years of his priesthood- his Golden anniversary. We remember Fr. Donald in our prayers and wish him every blessing. Fr. Donald is retired and lives in Arisaig.

Fr. Philip Wrigley: all last week we had Fr. Philip staying with Canon John Paul and many parishioners met him. Fr. Philip wishes to thank everyone for making him feel very welcome. Fr. Philip takes up his first appointment as assistant priest in Blackpool in September. We wish him every blessing in his Priesthood and we hope he comes back to visit the island again.

Relics of St. Bernadette: on Sunday 25th September Carfin Grotto celebrates its Centenary. To mark this wonderful celebration the relics of St. Bernadette are coming to Carfin. There will be a Mass on Sunday 25th September at 3pm followed by Rosary Torchlight procession. All welcome.
