Special Collection: there will be a special collection today for the Sick and retired priests of the Diocese. We offer this collection as a sign of our continuing gratitude for their years of service throughout the Diocese. The current cost of this support is £105,00 per year- which is a lot of money for the Diocese. Let us be as generous as we can to supporting this collection.

Funeral: we remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of Calum MacRury who peacefully passed away in his own home in Horve on Sunday 21st August. The Requiem Mass will be on Wednesday 24th August at 11.30am in Our Lady Star of the Sea. We extend our prayers of love and sympathy to Peigi and all the family at this time. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

Relic Tour of St. Bernadette: In September and October this year, the relics of St. Bernadette will journey on pilgrimage to England, Scotland and Wales. This very special once in a lifetime event will provide an opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to experience the special gifts and charisms of Lourdes in a special way. The relics of St. Bernadette will arrive in Scotland, at Carfin Grotto (Motherwell) on Saturday 24th September and then on Sunday 25th September at 3.00pm a special National Pilgrimage Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Joseph Toal along with the other Bishops of Scotland and with hundreds and thousands of pilgrims from all over Scotland will gather in Carfin Grotto on that Sunday. One of the main reasons it will be in Carfin Grotto all week is because Carfin celebrates its Centenary this year. If you haven’t been to Carfin then you should think about it. It is a very beautiful and spiritual place.

Diocese of Argyll & the Isles and the Relics tour: the relics of St. Bernadette will be in Carfin Grotto from 24th September -1st October. On certain days each Diocese in Scotland will help lead prayers, and Holy Mass and other liturgies. On Friday 30th September the Diocese of Argyll & the Isles will join with the Diocese of Motherwell and celebrate together the various liturgies on that day. So if you are thinking of going along to the tour of the relics then a good day to be there will be Friday 30th September. Bishop Brian McGee will be there along with hopefully some of the priests of the Diocese. Over the course of the day (from 8am-10pm) a possible outline of things that will happen are- Morning prayer; Confessions, Rosary, anointing of the sick, Holy Mass, Liturgy of Water and of course there will be the torchlight procession. If you cannot make Friday 30th September you can go along on another day that suits you. The important thing is just being there and receiving the beautiful blessings and graces of the relic of St. Bernadette.
