Recent Funeral: we pray for the repose of the soul of  Roderick Nicholson (Roddy Choy) of Skallary who peacefully passed away in St. Brendan’s Hospital on Tuesday 29th March at the age of 77 after a long illness. The Funeral took place on Friday 1st April in Our Lady Star of the Sea and then Roddy was laid to rest in Cuithir Cemetery. We extend our prayers of love and sympathy to all the family, relatives, neighbours and friends of Roddy. Fois shoiurruidh thoir dha, a Thighearna agus solus nach dibir dearrsadh air.  Gu’n robh fhois ann a’ sith. Amen.

Sacrament of Confession: we are now getting closer to Holy Week and a beautiful way to embrace Holy Week is to make a good confession. Please note that on Monday 4th April Fr. Ross will be over from Eriskay and will be available for confession. Of course Fr. Ross is a fluent Gaelic speaker and will hear confessions in Gaelic. He will be available on Monday in Northbay Church from 2pm-3pm and then from 6pm-7pm in Castlebay church. If there is an issue with no ferry and Fr Ross cannot get across then Canon John Paul will step in.

Chrism Mass:  will go ahead this coming Wednesday 6th April at 6.00pm in St. Columba’s Cathedral in Oban.

Canon John Paul: will ahead away to Oban this week for the Chrism Mass and for the clergy meetings from Tuesday to Thursday. This will be the first time in 3 years for the Bishop & Priest to be at the Mass.

Memorial Mass: please note that on Friday 8th April at 12Noon in Our Lady Star of the Sea there will be a Memorial Mass in memory of the late Floraidh MacNeil (Floraidh Ramain) of Glen. Floraidh died on the 14th April 2020 at the start of lockdown. No one was able to enter the church for the Funeral Mass and only a small number were allowed at the graveside. The family wish to invite you to the memorial Mass.

Catholic Church in Scotland – Request to Abuse Survivors: During April 2022 the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) will be conducting an independent review of Safeguarding in the Diocese of Argyll and the Isles. They want to hear from people with first-hand experience of how the Diocese has responded, or failed to respond, to reports of abuse or the sharing of concerns. No-one in the Church will be told you are taking part – it will be completely confidential and you will not be identified. If you have anything you would like to tell the independent review team, please contact SCIE directly by email at: learningtogether@scie.org.uk or by phoning: 07921 251614

Optional Face Masks: The Scottish Government has announced that from Monday 4th April you DO NOT need to wear a face mask/covering in Church.
