Bhileag 25th July 2021
Reserve a seat for Mass: If you wish to go to Sunday Mass please phone /text /email Canon John Paul and let him know which Mass you would like to go to. Please note that there is no Sunday Obligation at the moment.
Restrictions slowing lifting: the Scottish Government on 19th July announced that Social distance in our churches will now be 1metre which is good as it opens up more pews for people to attend. We still have to wear face coverings in the church. The Scottish Bishops have also said that we can have Congregational singing which is nice to feel we are going back to some kind of normality. Over the next few weeks we will start singing some hymns just to get into a routine. We won’t be singing everything but taking small steps forward.
Recent Funeral: we remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of Morag Campbell (Bean Iagain Iain Ghairbh) of St. Brendan’s road who died on Tuesday 20th July at the age of 88. The Requiem Mass took place on Saturday 24th July in Our Lady Star of the Sea. Afterwards Morag was laid to rest in Cuithir Cemetery. Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.
Parish Sunday Collection: please remember for the time being we do not pass around the collection basket during Mass. Instead the collection baskets are at the church door.
Fr. Joe Sullivan: wishes to send his heartfelt thanks to everyone for making his stay on the island so nice. Moran Taing!
Funeral service: On Friday 30th July there will be the funeral service of the late Joyce MacIntyre who died recently in Oban at the age of 68. Joyce was married to Calum (a Fennag) MacIntyre and she will be laid to rest alongside Calum in Eoligarry graveyard. The service will be at 12 noon at the graveside.
Recent Wedding: we congratulate Marlene MacNeil & James Divers who were married in Our Lady Star of the Sea on Friday 23rd July. We wish Mr & Mrs Divers every health, joy and happiness in their marriage.
