CHURCH NOTICES

Reserve a seat for Mass: If you wish to go to Sunday Mass please phone /text /email Canon John Paul and let him know which Mass you would like to go to and your seat will be reserved for “track & trace purposes”. Please note that there is no Sunday Obligation at the moment.

Congregational singing of Hymns: after the recent restrictions being lifted by the Scottish Government-the Scottish Catholic Bishops have said that we can have singing of Hymns & Mass parts in our Churches again. It’s been so long that many people will be “a little rusty” at singing but we will slowly start singing some hymns at Mass. We won’t be singing everything but just getting used to singing some hymns. We do still have to keep our face masks on for singing.

Social distance in Church: the government announced  back on the 19th July that  the social distance in all Churches will now be 1metre which is good as it opens up more pews for people to attend.  However we do still have to wear face coverings in the church.

Recent Baptisms: we warmly welcome into the family of the Church Sophie Sinclair and Lachie MacLeod who were baptised in Our Lady of the Waves & St. John on Vatersay on Saturday 24th July. We wish Sophie & Lachie and their parents and Godparents every health, happiness & blessing.

We also welcome into the family of the church Ada Joan Morrison who was baptised on Friday 30th July in Our Lady Star of the Sea in Castlebay. We wish Ada and her parents and Godparents every health, happiness & blessing too.

Future Wedding: this coming Thursday 5th August there will be the Nuptial Mass of Annemarie MacNeil & Iain Eosa Campbell in St. Barr’s Church in Northbay. Let us remember Annemarie & Iain Eosa in our prayers as they prepare for their important Wedding day

Holy Communion Service: on Friday 6th August Deacon Philip will lead a Holy Communion service in Our Lady of the Waves & St. John on Vatersay. Canon John Paul has to head over to South Uist on Friday to look after the wedding of his cousin in St. Peter’s Daliburgh. Therefore instead of Mass there will be a service lead by Rev. Philip. The service will consist of prayers and readings of the day and receiving Holy Communion. It is not Mass but a service. It’s one of the lovely things a Deacon can do when the priest is not available. The service will be at 10am as usual.
