Bhileag 12th September 2021

Funeral: we pray for the repose of the soul of Calum MacIntyre (Calum Aoidh of Bolnabodach) who passed away in Inverness on Thursday 2nd September at the age of 96. Calum’s Requiem Mass will take place on Thursday 16th September at 11am in St. Barr’s Church in Northbay. Calum will be received into Northbay Church on Wednesday evening-when the boat arrives. After the Requiem Mass  Calum will be laid to rest in Eoligarry cemetery. We extend our prayers of love and sympathy to all Calum’s family & relatives at this time. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

Vocations Awareness Week: this coming week the Catholic Church in Scotland is united in a special prayer for Vocations to the Priesthood and to the religious life. Please keep this important prayer intention in your hearts and to pray for those men and women who are discerning their vocation. May the Lord Jesus gently guide their hearts and help them to so say “yes” to the Priesthood or religious life or permanent diaconate. Let us pray for our Diocese of Argyll & the Isles to be blessed with more Vocations.

Wednesday morning Mass: please note the Mass in Craigston will be at 10am for this week only.

Special Collection: next weekend (18th/19th September) we will take up a special collection for the Ecclesiastical Students fund. A fund which helps support those who are studying for the Priesthood for our Diocese. At present we only have Deacon Philip Bua studying in the Beda College in Rome.

Recent Baptism: we warmly welcome into the family of the Church Ivy Campbell who was baptised on Saturday 11th September in Our Lady Star of the Sea. We wish Ivy every health, peace and happiness and every blessing upon Ivy’s parents and Godparents.

Attending Mass in the Parish: You no longer need to phone or email or text Canon John Paul about reserving a seat at Sunday Mass or weekday Mass. You can just turn up at the Church and just sign in at the Church Porch with your name & telephone number (for track & trace purposes) and sit anywhere you want in the church. We keep a face covering on at all times in the church unless you have an exemption.

Sanitising the Church: after every Mass the pews in Church need to be wiped down with Anti-bacterial spray or wipes. If you can help just remain behind after Mass. Canon John Paul is so grateful to all those who give of their time to help sanitise all our churches on the island. Moran Taing!

Clergy Assembly “on-line” normally each September the Priests of the Diocese along with Bishop Brian meet in Oban for various meetings. Sadly this year with the various Covid restrictions this will not be happening. Instead the Priests and Bishop will go “on-line” to have their meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday from 11am-4pm.

Altar servers: Canon John Paul will soon be looking for Altar servers to start helping at Mass.
