Bhileag (Newsletter) 30th October 2022

Holyday of Obligation: Tuesday is the Solemnity of All Saints and is a Holy of Obligation. There will be two Masses on that day. 10.00am in Northbay and 7.00pm in Castlebay.

All Souls Day: Wednesday is All Souls Day. It is NOT a holyday of obligation. Mass at 12 Noon in Craigston as we begin an important month of prayer for the “Holy Souls”.

Thursday Mass: please note that for this week only the Mass on Thursday will be in Eoligarry at 10am.

November Lists: One of the important things we can do during the month of November is to pray for our faithful departed. The Month of November is often called the Month of the Holy Souls. There are November lists with envelopes available at the Church entrance. Please write down on the lists the names of any deceased family, relatives, friends, parishioners you would like to remember and pray for. Once you have filled in your list please place the list in the envelope provided (or any envelope) and inside the envelope please place an offering. Please pass the envelopes onto Canon John Paul or to put in offertory basket. These envelopes will then be placed upon the Altar at every Holy Mass and those names you have written will be remembered at the Altar of God at each Mass in November.

Graveyard Rosary: Each Sunday in November we will gather to pray the Rosary in each of our Graveyards. Please note the times and dates and places!! If the weather is poor we go to the nearest Church.

6th Nov- Cuithir Graveyard at 3pm

13th Nov- Vatersay Graveyard at 3pm

20th Nov- Eoligarry Graveyard at 3pm

27th Nov- Borve Graveyard at 2pm

Fr. Stanley Bennie: we remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of Fr. Stanley Bennie who died recently. Fr. Stanley had for many years been the Episcopalian Priest in Stornoway until he retired and converted to Catholicism and then he was ordained into the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham. Fr. Stanley did visit a couple of times to supply on Barra. Fr. Stanley gave his life to God and preached the Good News of the Gospel for many years with love and faith. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
