Bhileag (Newsletter) 13th November 2022

November Lists: One of the important things we can do during the month of November is to pray for our faithful departed. The Month of November is often called the Month of the Holy Souls. There are November lists with envelopes available at the Church entrance. Please write down on the lists the names of any deceased family, relatives, friends, parishioners you would like to remember and pray for. Once you have filled in your list please place the list in the envelope provided (or any envelope) and inside the envelope please place an offering. Please pass the envelopes onto Canon John Paul or to put in offertory basket. These envelopes will then be placed upon the Altar at every Holy Mass and those names you have written will be remembered at the Altar of God at each Mass in November.

Graveyard Rosary: Each Sunday in November we will gather to pray the Rosary in each of our Graveyards. Please note the times and dates and places!! As always if the weather is poor we will gather in the nearest Church. For this Sunday (13th November) it will be Vatersay Graveyard at 3pm.

13th Nov- Vatersay at 3pm

20th Nov- Eoligarry at 3pm

27th Nov- Borve at 2pm

Remembrance Sunday: the service at the Nask War memorial will be today (13th November) at 2.00pm. We will gather to remember all who have died in our Great World Wars and all who continue to die in War and to pray for peace and an end to war in our world.

Death of Archbishop Mario Conti: it was with sadness the Catholic Church in Scotland heard  the sad news of the death of Archbishop Mario Conti. He died on Tuesday 8th November at the age of 88. He had latterly been Archbishop of Glasgow and before that Bishop of Aberdeen. He gave his life to the Church and to the Priesthood and he was a good Bishop. He was highly thought of  by so many people. The Requiem Mass of Archbishop Conti is on Friday 18th November at 12 Noon in St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Glasgow. May he rest in peace. Amen.

Special Collection: this weekend for Scottish Catholic Education service (SCES).

Craigston Church Windows: Canon John Paul is waiting for three new Church windows to be made for Craigston Church. The three main large windows that face the roadside need to be replaced. As we know one window has a board over it to help keep the wind and rain out. The windows are in a bad state and need to be replaced and they also have to be made out of wood. There is joiner in Benbecula who is making the windows in his workshop. One window is ready and hopefully soon will be put in. Each window will cost £2,800 therefore £8,400 in total. Which is a lot of money because they have to be made out of wood and not plastic. We will be trying to do some fund raising but if anyone wishes to help by giving any donations towards the cost then please see Canon John Paul. If you wish to do something directly through the bank- the Parish account details are;-

RCD Argyll & the Isles Castlebay Mission   Sort Code 839125   Account Number 65627538

Any donations will be a great support. Canon John Paul understands that we are in difficult times with the “cost of living” at the moment but any support will be greatly appreciated. Moran Taing!
