Bhileag 5th January 2020

Justice & Peace: today is the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord and it is the day the Catholic Church in Scotland offers special prayers for the work of Justice and Peace in our World. There will be a letter read out at all Masses from Bishop William Nolan, who is the Bishop of the Diocese of Galloway and is also the President of Justice and peace in Scotland.

Special collection for Justice and peace: today we will also take up a second collection for the work of Justice and peace in Scotland.

Recent Funeral: we remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of MORAG GILLIES (Morag Curstaidh Mhoir of Garrygall) who peacefully passed away last Monday 30th December at the age of 82. Morag’s Requiem Mass took place on Thursday 2nd January in Our Lady Star of the Sea in Castlebay and thereafter Morag was laid to rest in Cuithir cemetery. Fois shiorruidh thoir dhith, a Thighearna agus solus nach dìbir dearrsadh orra. Gu’n robh a fois ann a’ sith. Amen.

“The Veil removed” Film: there is lovely 7 minute film online of what happens at every holy Mass. Type The Veil removed into your search engine on your ipad or iphone- it is on Youtube. It’s a powerful short film which opens our minds and eyes and hearts of faith to what truly happens at every Holy Mass! How earth unites with heaven at every holy Mass. Check it out- it will certainly make you think twice when you go to Holy Mass.

Christmastide: concludes next Sunday (12th Jan) –with the feast of the Baptism of the Lord. Please note next Sunday 12th Jan at 3.00pm- Castlebay church will be cleaned and all Christmas decorations will be taken down for another year. Looking for volunteers to help come along!
