Bhileag 17th January 2021
No Public Mass: Sadly with the recent announcement from NHS Western Isles of 27 positive Covid-19 cases on the island (and with many more islanders having to isolate) Canon John Paul has made the decision to suspend public Mass for 14 days -from Wednesday 13th January-Wednesday 27th January. On Wednesday 27th January Canon John Paul will review whether Public Masses can resume. It is just a precaution to suspend the Masses as we are encouraged to stay at home and keep safe. We have done very well for the last 10 months with no positive cases on the island but sadly we knew this day would come- it’s impossible to keep such a virus away from our island. However what is possible is trying to keep the virus under control and keep following the Government & NHS guidelines and stay at home and follow FACTS.
Canon John Paul is remembering in his prayers and in his own private Masses those who are unwell with Covid-19 on the island and praying for a quick recovery and praying that as quickly the virus came upon our island that it may disappear just as quick. Let us keep strong, and keep faith. In our time of isolation let us use our time of isolation to pray more and to pray for each other and to pray for our islands to be kept safe.
Holy Mass on line: once again we have to go back to watching Holy Mass online for the next couple of weekends. Bishop Brian in Oban celebrates daily Mass on the Diocesan Facebook /Youtube channel at 10am. You can find lots of parishes around Scotland live streaming their Masses.

Crib collection- Holy Childhood: we will delay this collection until Public Masses resume.
Death of Archbishop Philip Tartaglia: we remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of Archbishop Philip Tartaglia- who was the Archbishop of Glasgow. The Archbishop peacefully and suddenly passed away on Wednesday 13th January in his own home at the age of 70. Archbishop Tartaglia was a good and faithful Priest and Bishop who served his Lord and served his Catholic Church in Scotland with great love and humility for many years.
We also remember the repose of the soul Bishop Vincent Logan who passed away on Thursday 14th January. Bishop Logan was the retired Bishop of Dunkeld. He died aged 79.
Let us remember in our prayers Archbishop Philip Tartaglia and Bishop Vincent Logan – we thank God for their service to the Priesthood and to the Church and we commend their souls to the love and mercy of God. May they rest in peace. Amen.
