Bhileag 11th November 2018

Recent Death: we remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of IAIN GILLIES (Iain Mickety of Caolis) who sadly passed away last Tuesday 6th November at the age of 51. Iain’s remains will return back to Barra on Monday evening and will go home to Caolis. Iain’s Requiem Mass will be Wednesday 14th November at 11am in Vatersay Church and thereafter to Vatersay graveyard. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

November Lists: The month of November is the month of the Holy souls -when we pray for all our deceased family, relatives, friends, parishioners and all the holy souls who have no one to pray for them. Once you have filled in your list and put in your offering please pass on the envelope to one of the Priests and they will be placed into the book of Remembrance which will be called the “Book of Life” and placed upon the Altar at every Holy Mass.

Special Collection: next weekend for the Pastoral Formation of the Diocese.

Eoligarry Vigil: next Saturday 17th November there will be the extra vigil mass in Eoligarry at 4pm.

Remembrance Sunday Service: today the 11th November there will be the Remembrance Day service at the War memorial in Nask at 2.00pm. This year marks the centenary of the end of World War I. Everyone is invited to come along and unite in prayer in remembering those who died in our Great World Wars from the islands.

Please note at 12.30pm on Sunday 11th November the bell in the clock-tower of Our Lady Star of the Sea church and the bell on St. Barr’s church will ring out. All over the United Kingdom bells will be ringing out in a symbolic way to give thanks for the end of war 100 years ago and it will replicate the national outpouring of relief that took place at the end of World War I as news of the Armistice filtered through and bells which had long been silent then rang out.
