CHURCH NOTICES

Reserve a seat for Mass: sadly it is one of those annoying things just now that we have to do- to book a seat for Mass. We are familiar with what to do now. If you wish to go to Mass please phone /text /email Canon John Paul and let him know which Mass you would like to go to. If there is a particular Mass you simply want to place your name down for each week then please let Canon Jon Paul and this can be arranged. Please note that there is no Sunday Obligation at the moment. Therefore you can treat a weekday Mass as your Sunday Mass just now.

Divine Mercy Sunday Holy Hour: today there will be the prayer of the Divine Mercy Chaplet and Benediction in St. Barr’s Church  in Northbay at 3.00pm. Please just sign in at the church porch.

Easter Flowers: Canon John Paul wishes to thank those who quietly prepared the Churches for Easter. All five of our Churches look so beautiful. Moran Taing!

SCIAF Collection:  next weekend (17th/18th April) we will take up a special collection at all the Sunday Masses for SCIAF. Normally this takes place during Lent but sadly we were unable to do that.  If you could please also hand in your SCIAF wee box as soon as you can so that the money can be counted and sent to SCIAF.

Fr. Colin MacInnes: has now retired from parish priest ministry in the Diocese. He celebrated Mass last Sunday in St. Mary’s in Benbecula and then moved into his new home -which is the lovely chapel house in Bornish in South Uist. We wish Fr. Colin every health, joy and happiness in his retirement.

Canon Michael Hutson: has now taken over as the new parish Priest of St. Mary’s Benbecula. He has arrived and will celebrate his first Sunday Masses this weekend. We wish Canon Michael every blessing as he takes up his new position.

Canon William Fraser: on  the internet –on Youtube just now -on the “Family House of Prayer in Dalmally “channel there is a lovely 10 minute talk from Canon  William Fraser  about the “Call to Priesthood”. He speaks of his own vocation and the importance of the Holy Mass. Canon Fraser retired a couple of years ago from active parish ministry and now lives in the Dalmally area. Go to Youtube and type in the call to Priesthood Fr. William Fraser and you should find it.

Borve Graveyard Committee: seven names have been given to Canon John Paul for a new Borve Graveyard committee to be formed. Canon John Paul thanks those who have given their names and he will be in touch with them to form a new Committee.

Easter Triduum: Canon John Paul wishes to thank all those who went to the various Masses & services for Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Vigil & Easter Sunday- over the 4 days about 373 people attended the Masses which is a lovely sign that parishioners are so glad the Churches are open again for public Mass.

Prayers for the Faithful departed: We remember those whose anniversaries which occur about now…………Floraiadh “Ramain” MacNeil (Glen).  Katie “a Bhibi” Dewar (Northbay) James MacNeil (Vatersay), Dolly McClements (Earsary). Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.

Recent Baptisms:  last Sunday, on Easter Sunday, we warmly welcomed into the family of the Church RUARAIDH IAIN MacNEIL  & LUCY MULLEN. Ruaraidh Iain was baptised by Fr. David  Stewart in Our Lady Star of the Sea in Castlebay and Lucy was baptised by Canon John Paul in St. Brendan’s in Craigston. We wish Ruaraidh Iain & Lucy every health, happiness and blessing and every blessing upon their parents and Godparents.
