Clergy Moves in the Diocese: Bishop Brian recently announced clergy moves within the Diocese-  Canon William Fraser retires from the Parish of Taynuilt. Fr Roddy Johnston moves from Stornoway to Ballachulish & Taynuilt and Chaplain to the Craig Lodge Community. Fr. William MacLean moves from Skye to Stornoway.  Fr Roddy McAuley moves from Caol to Dunoon. Fr David Connor moves from Lochgilphead to Lochaber Cluster of Fort William, Caol, Glenfinnan & Mingarry. Fr Emmanuel Alagbaoso moves from Isle of Barra to be Assistant Priest of the Lochaber Cluster:  Monsignor James MacNeil will become Administrator of St Margaret’s, Lochgilphead as well as remaining Administrator of St Columba’s Cathedral, Oban. Fr Noel Ugoagwu will move from Dunoon to Skye. Fr Ronald Campbell has been appointed as Assistant Priest to St Margaret’s, Lochgilphead. These new appointments will take effect on Monday 12th August 2019.

 

Priesthood Ordination:  On Tuesday 9th July Ronald Campbell will be ordained a Priest for our Diocese of Argyll & The Isles.  Bishop Brian will ordain Ronald in St. Mary’s Church on the Isle of Benbecula at 6pm. It is a joyful day for our Diocese and for our islands to produce another Priest to serve the Lord and his holy  Church. Let us all remember Ronald in our prayers and pray that the Lord Jesus may pour his abundant graces and blessings upon Ronald. On Wednesday 10th July Ronald will celebrate his first Holy Mass in St. Mary’s Benbecula at 12 Noon.

 

Fr. John Paul:  will be away this coming week over in South Uist attending the Ordination of Ronald Campbell on Tuesday 9th July, also the first Mass of Fr. Ronald on Wednesday 10th July and also will be attending a special Mass of Thanksgiving in St. Peter’s in Daliburgh on Thursday 11th July with Bishop Brian. Fr. John Paul will be back on Friday. Fr. Emmanuel: plans to come back to Barra from 18th- 23rd July to pack up his books and belongings. Therefore the weekend Masses of 20th/21st July -Fr Emmanuel will celebrate the Masses on the island. Hopefully we will plan to do a farewell tea for him on the Sunday 21st July.

 

Eucharistic Ministers: Fr. John Paul will be approaching parishioners to ask if they would like to be Eucharistic Ministers in our parishes. Fr. John Paul is happy to be approached with any names too.  A Eucharistic minister helps the Priest give out the precious Body & Blood of our Saviour in Holy Communion at holy Mass.

 

Sea Sunday Collection: today the 2nd collections will be for Apostleship of the Sea.

 

Vatersay Sunday Mass: please note that the Vatersay Sunday Mass for July  will be pushed forward to next  Sunday 14th July at 4pm.

 

Future Wedding: let us remember Roddy MacInnes & Lisa Gilmour who will celebrate their Wedding Mass next Saturday (13th July) in Our Lady Star of the Sea at 2.00pm. Could all choir members all come along and help in the singing of the Hymns.

 

Fisherman’s Mass & Blessing of Boats: Today there will be the Annual Fishermans Mass and Blessing of boats at Castlebay Pier- which is always a happy celebration for our island. We are always looking for volunteers to help set up and tidy up on the day- so if you can help please come along. The Mass will be at 2pm. Remember that housebound can come along in family cars and can be parked up near the Altar area.
