Bhileag 7th February 2021
Churches Closed & No Public Mass: the Scottish Government has announced that we remain in “lockdown” till the end of the month of February. Therefore the priority is to STAY AT HOME. Now that we are in Tier 4 all the Churches on the island are closed and you cannot enter them. There is no public Mass until further notice and you cannot go to the Church for private prayer. Please stay at home and pray in the comfort and safety of your homes.
The Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes: this coming Thursday (11th February) is the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes and is World Day of Prayer for the Sick. This is an important Feast as we pray to our Lady to be with all the sick especially during this Coronavirus Pandemic in which many people are sick. Our Lady always encourages us to pray the holy Rosary. This coming Thursday, let us take the opportunity to pray the Rosary and to pray for God’s healing to come upon all our sick especially any family, relatives or friends who needs our prayers during this difficult time of the pandemic.
Year of St. Joseph: Pope Francis declared at the beginning of the year, that this year of 2021 is a year dedicated to St. Joseph. 150 years ago Blessed Pope Pius IX declared St. Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church-therefore Our Hoy Father Pope Francis is encouraging the Universal Church to turn to St. Joseph to guide and protect us all in our journey of faith. Pope Francis describes St. Joseph as “a beloved father, a tender and loving father, an obedient father, an accepting father, a father who is creatively courageous, a working father, a father in the shadows- he is the man who goes unnoticed, he is a daily discreet and hidden presence who plays an important role in the history of salvation”. Let us use this year to pray in a special way to pray to St. Joseph to protect the Church and to protect us all in our journey of faith. A lovely thing we can do this year is say each day a prayer to St. Joseph…………..
Prayer to St. Joseph
Hail Guardian of the Redeemer,
Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
To you God entrusted his only Son;
in you Mary placed her trust;
with you Christ became man.
Blessed Joseph, to us too,
show yourself a father and
guide us in the path of life.
Obtain for us grace, mercy and courage
and defend us from every evil. Amen.
St. Joseph…..pray for us
