Recent Funeral: we pray for the repose of the soul of DUNCAN BOYD of Ardmhor who passed away peacefully after a short illness on Monday 31st December at the age of 90. It was only 7 months ago that Duncan’s late wife Elma passed away. Duncan wanted that peace in his life and his prayer was answered when he peacefully passed way on Monday. The Requiem Mass took place on Thursday 3rd January in St. Barr’s in Northbay and afterwards Duncan was laid to rest in Eoligarry Cemetery beside his beloved Elma. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
Justice & Peace: this weekend (5th/6th January) there will be a letter from Justice and Peace Scotland. Also there will be a special collection for the work of Justice and Peace at each of the Masses.
Vatersay Sunday Mass: today at 4.00pm in Our Lady of the Waves & St. John on Vatersay.
Crib Collection: next Weekend (12th/13th January) we will take up a special collection for the Crib collection which is for Missionary Children- Holy Childhood.
Mgr. Gerard McKay: Bishop Brian will celebrate a Mass on Monday 7th January for the Diocese in praying for the repose of the soul of the late Mgr. Gerard McKay at 12 Noon in St. Columba’s Cathedral in Oban. Bishop Brian attended Mgr. McKay’s Funeral which took place in Rome on Friday 4th January. May he rest in God’s eternal love and peace.
Fr. John Paul: please note Fr. John Paul is away this weekend supplying in the parishes of Ardkenneth and Bornish over in South Uist. He will be back on Monday. Also next weekend (12th/13th January) Fr. John Paul will travel over to the mainland to supply in the parish of Dunoon. Over the coming year Fr. John Paul will be away from the island helping to supply in various parishes and he will take these opportunities to talk to parishioners throughout the Diocese about his role as the New Vocations Director of the Diocese and encouraging parishioners all over the Diocese to pray for Vocations to the Priesthood for our Diocese.
