Bhileag 5th December 2021

Requiem Mass: we remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of Donald MacNeil (Domhnall Bhinnie) who suddenly passed away at his own home in Eoligarry on Tuesday 7th December aged 67. Donald’s Requiem Mass will be on Saturday 11th December at 11am in St. Brendan’s Craigston. Thereafter Donald will be laid to rest in Cuithir Cemetery. We extend our prayers of sympathy to all Donald’s family at this time. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

Recent Funeral: we remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of RODDY CAMPBELL (Ruaraidh Fhearchair of Tangusdale) who peacefully passed away on Monday 29th November at the age of 77. Roddy’s Funeral took place on Wednesday 1st December in St. Brendan’s in Craigston and thereafter Roddy was laid to rest in Cuithir Cemetery. We extend our prayers of love and sympathy to all Roddy’s family. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

Fr. David Stewart: Fr. David will be here next weekend. He will fly onto the island on Friday 10th December until Monday 13th December. He will celebrate the weekend Masses and will be available to hear any confessions. One of the lovely gifts we can give ourselves for Christmas is the mercy and forgiveness of our Lord Jesus through the Sacrament of Confession. As St. John the Baptist tells us in the Gospel today “prepare a way for the Lord”. What better way to prepare a way for the Lord than to receive his forgiveness through the lovely Sacrament of Confession.

Sunday Obligation returns: The Catholic Bishops of Scotland have written a Pastoral letter entitled “The Season of Christmas and the Restoration of the Mass Obligation in the Diocese of Scotland”. The main thing to highlight from the letter is that from Sunday 2nd January 2022 the Sunday Obligation returns for Sunday Mass and Holyday’s of obligation. It will take a little time to get used to this once again but it is important that we return back to Mass and back to the Lord Jesus who is waiting for us at the Holy Mass. Please pick up a Pastoral letter and please pass it on to anyone else who would appreciate the information. Therefore Sunday 2nd January 2022 (the Feast of the Epiphany) we will be obligated to go to Sunday Mass.
