It would be lovely to have some from the island travel over for the ordination and support Rev Emmanuel. Bishop Brian extends a warm invitation to everyone. Also please keep in your prayers Ronald Campbell from Benbecula who will be ordained a deacon on Wednesday 13th June in Rome.
Bishop Brian writes: Day of Prayer for the Sanctification for Priests-Pope Francis has stated that the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Friday June 8th, will be a day of prayer for the sanctification of priests. Happily the Pope’s intentions mirrors our own thoughts regarding the need for clergy to deepen our love for the Lord. I am sure that your people will want to pray for you too. I ask you to encourage your people to attend Mass on Friday and also participate in a Holy Hour for priests. Of course, you may well have your own plans which will be better suited to your parish. I have also proposed a prayer which you may choose to insert in your bulletin so that the housebound and those who cannot attend Church this Friday can still pray for you at home.
Prayer for Priests:Sacred Heart of Jesus, whose Heart constantly burns with love for us, hear our prayers today for our priests. We ask you to bless and keep close to your Loving Heart our Parish Priest Father ………. Inflame him with a love for You and for all people so that he may increasingly become a shepherd after Your own Heart. Consecrate to Your Heart all the priests of our diocese of Argyll and the Isles, both those still working in parishes and those who have retired. Through Your great mercy bring our priests who have served us but have since died into the glory of heaven. Amen.
