Bhileag 28th July 2019
Fr. Roddy McAuley: this coming week Fr. Roddy will be over for a few days to take part in a family gathering on the island. On Thursday (1st August) Fr. Roddy will celebrate Mass at 12 Noon for his family and he wishes to invite anyone to the Mass in Our Lady Star of the Sea. Fr. Roddy will head away on Friday and as we know he will then be moving from St. John’s in Caol to St. Mun’s in Dunoon. We wish him every blessing as he takes up his new parish.
Church Security: please note that sadly from now on we will be locking the Churches overnight. It was one of the lovely things about the Churches on the island- keeping them open but sadly some people don’t respect that. From now on- Castlebay & Northbay Church will be locked late in the evening and open first thing in the morning. We will also be locking the other three churches too. Thankfully nothing serious has happened in any of the Churches but now we have to be more preventative and more security conscious and so the Churches will need to be locked overnight.
Ecclesiastical Students Fund: today there will be a special collection to support those who are studying for the Priesthood for the Diocese.
Bishop’s Fund: next Sunday we will take up a special collection to help support our Bishop- to support him in his travelling around our widespread Diocese and to help in his administration.
Eucharistic Ministers: Fr. John Paul will be approaching parishioners to ask if they would like to be Eucharistic Ministers in our parishes. Fr. John Paul is happy to be approached with any names too.
Future Wedding: next Friday (2nd August) there will be the Wedding Mass of Sarah Ann MacLean & Domhnall Iain MacLeod. The Nuptial Mass will be at 2.00pm in Our Lady Star of the Sea in Castlebay. We remember Sarah Ann & Domhnall Iain in our prayers as they prepare for their important day.
Recent Baptism: we warmly welcome into the family of the Church Ruaridh Duncan MacNeil who was baptised by Fr. Emmanuel last Sunday in Our Lady of the Waves & St. John on Vatersay. We wish Ruaridh and his parents and Godparents every blessing.
Vatersay Sunday Mass: next Sunday (4th August) at 4.00pm in Our Lady of the Waves & St. John.
Burial of Ashes: next Sunday (4th August) there will be the burial of Ashes of the late Hughie MacArthur of Barra. Hughie had lived in Ireland for many years and it was there that he passed away and he was cremated. During the Mass next Sunday at 11.30am the urn of ashes will be brought to the Mass and we will remember the prayer intention of praying for the repose of the soul of Hughie MacArthur and after the Mass the Ashes will be placed into a family plot at Cuithir graveyard.
