Recent Deaths: We pray for the repose of the soul of IAIN MacLELLAN (Iain Thomais) of Rhu /Castlebay but for many years Iain had lived in Dunoon. Iain passed away last Sunday 20th January in Dunoon at the age of 93. Iain’s Requiem Mass took place on Saturday 26th January in Our Lady Star of the Sea in Castlebay and then Iain was laid to rest in Cuithir Cemetery. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

We pray for the repose of the soul of DONALD MacLEAN (Domhnall Floraidh) of Vatersay & Allasdale who died last Sunday 20th January over in his home on Vatersay at the age of 53. Domhnall was a much loved character on our islands. Donald’s Requiem Mass took place on Saturday 26th January in St. Brendan’s in Craigston and then Donald was laid to rest in Cuithir cemetery. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

We pray also for the repose of the soul of MARGARET MacLEOD who peacefully passed away on Thursday 24th January in her own home in Bruernish at the age of  83. Margaret’s Requiem Mass will be on Sunday 27th January during the 9.30am Sunday Mass in St, Barr’s in Northbay and thereafter  Margaret will be laid to rest in Eoligarry Cemetery. Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.

Castlebay Readers Rota: a new Rota is available.

Candlemas: next Saturday (2nd February)  is the feast of the Presentation of the Child Jesus in the Temple. On this day candles are blessed during Mass and we are encouraged to take candles home and when we light the candle we pray for the light of Christ to enter our homes.

Vatersay Sunday Mass: next Sunday (3rd February) the first Sunday of February there will be Mass on Vatersay at 4pm.
