Bhileag 21st October 2018

Mission Sunday: this weekend is Mission Sunday, when the Catholic Church in Scotland unites in praying for all who work as missionaries in the World-wide mission of the church in helping to proclaim the Gospel throughout the World, particularly where the church is poor. As always there will be a 2nd collection uplifted for MISSIO Scotland- your prayers and donations make a vital difference.

Fr. Bernie MacDonald:  we warmly welcome Fr Bernie to the island. He arrived last Monday and sadly leaves on Monday 22nd Oct-a quick week on the island. We hope and pray that he has had a restful few days catching up with friends on the island before he heads back across the water to Cape Breton.

Recent Deaths: we pray for the repose of the soul of Iagan MacLean (Iagan a chailidh) who passed away on Thursday 11th October at the age of 80 and whose Funeral Mass was on Sunday 14th October. Iagan was then laid to rest in Cuithir cemetery. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord. May he rest in peace.

We pray for the repose of the soul of Donald MacLean (Domhnall a doodle) of Barra and Glasgow who passed away at the age of 71 on Friday 12th October in Glasgow and whose Requiem Mass was on Saturday 20th October in St. Brendan’s, Craigston. Domhnall was then laid to rest over on the island of Eriskay. May he rest in peace. Amen.

We pray for also for the repose of the soul of Dr. Joan Lee of London (& Eoligarry) who passed away recently in London at the age of 83. It is planned that a requiem Mass will take place in Eoligarry church in the next few weeks for Joan. May she rest in peace. Amen.

October Devotions: today 21st October there will be Rosary and Benediction in St. Barr’s, Northbay  at 4.00pm.

Lapaich: Fr. John Paul apologises to the housebound for the delay in visits this month. Hopefully everything will get back into a bit of normality next week. The housebound visits will be next week, beginning Monday 29th October.

Fr. John Paul & Fr. Emmanuel: please note that Fr. John Paul will be attending the funeral of a family friend in Ayrshire on Tuesday and will be back on Thursday’s plane. Fr. Emmanuel is away also this week on a Spiritual retreat in Glasgow. Fr. John Paul can always be contacted on his mobile number if anyone needs to speak with him.

Canon Angus MacQueen: the latest news on Canon Angus is that he is in Hospital in Benbecula.

Sr. Alberta: wishes to thank everyone for their kindness in her recent mission appeal on behalf of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary.

November Lists:  the month of October is flying by and soon the month of November will be upon us. The month of November is of course the month of the Holy souls when we pray for all our deceased family, relatives, friends, parishioners and all the holy souls. Next week envelopes with November lists will be available in the church and on the lists we write the names of any deceased family we wish to remember in the holy Masses during the month of November. Praying for the holy souls is a very important prayer for us all to do -to help guide all souls to heaven.
