Funeral: we remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of ELMA BOYD of Ardmhor who peacefully passed away in her own home in Ardmhor on Saturday 9th June at the age of 84. Elma’s remains will be received in St. Barr’s Church in Northbay on Sunday 10th June at 6pm. The Requiem Mass of Elma will be on Tuesday 12th June at 11am. Eternal rest grant unto her O lord and let perpetaul light shine upon. May she rest in peace. Amen.

Fr. John Paul on pilgrimage: please note that Fr. John Paul will be away from Wednesday 13th June till Wednesday 20th June. He is going on a pilgrimage abroad with a group from Glasgow and when he returns on Wednesday 20th June he will go to the Priesthood Ordination of Rev. Emmanuel in Oban on Thursday 21st June.

Fr. Pat McSorley: will arrive on the island on Thursday 14th June and will look after next weekend’s Masses. We are very grateful to Fr. Pat how he helps Fr. John Paul with supply.

Fr. Donald MacLeod: we welcome to the island Fr Donald who is taking a restful holiday on the island and staying with family in Kentangaval. Fr. Donald will be on hand if a Priest is needed until Fr. Pat arrives on Thursday. We hope Fr. Donald enjoys a good rest on the island.

Fr. Michael MacDonald: we remember Fr. Michael MacDonald in our prayers as he celebrates his 40th anniversary of Priesthood on the 29th June. There will be a Parish Celebration in Iochdar on Thursday 28th June with Mass at 7pm. May God bless Fr. Michael on this special anniversary of his Priesthood.

Fr. Bernie MacDonald: This weekend it is hoped that Fr. Bernie will be over on Barra for a couple of days with his sister and brother in law. He hopes to come along to the 9.30am Mass in Northbay on Sunday. We look forward to seeing him and hearing how he is doing back in Cape Breton.

150th Anniversary of St. Peter’s Daliburgh: this year on the 29th June St. Peter’s Church in Daliburgh will celebrate its 150th anniversary. Bishop Brian will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving at 7pm on Friday 29th June. We wish the parishioners of St. Peter’s in Daliburgh every blessing on their 150th anniversary.

Mary’s Meals: to help support Mary’s Meals, raffle tickets will be sold after Sunday Mass in Northbay & Castlebay on Sunday 17th June and then in Craigston Church on Saturday 23rd June.

First Holy Communion date: let us keep in mind the children preparing to make their first confession and their First Holy Communion. The date for the First Holy Communion is Sunday 24th June. Could parents let Fr. John Paul or Sarah Ann know which church they would like their child to make their First Holy Communion that weekend.

The First Confessions will be made on Saturday 23rd June at 12 Noon in Castlebay church.

Bingo: please note there will be a Bingo on Friday 15th June at 8pm in Castlebay School. The Bingo is to raise funds for grass cutting at St. Brendan’s Graveyard on Borve Point. Donations and prizes can be handed in to Annie Jean or Ronnie or at the Top Shop. Come along and help support this charity.

Priesthood Ordination: On Thursday 21st June the Diocese will celebrate the ordination to the Priesthood of Rev. Emmanuel Alagbaoso.The Ordination will be in St. Columba’s Cathedral at 7pm. Rev. Emmanuel will then celebrate his first Mass on Friday 22nd June at 10am in St. Columba’s Cathedral. It would be lovely to have some parishioners from the island travel over for the ordination and help support Rev Emmanuel. Bishop Brian extends a warm invitation to everyone. Let us also keep in our prayers Ronald Campbell from Benbecula who will be ordained a deacon this coming Wednesday 13th June in Rome.
