Ash Wednesday: this coming Wednesday is Ash Wednesday and is the beginning of Lent. There are three Masses and four services in which  the ashes will be distributed- you are welcome to attend any of the services;

9.45am Northbay MASS

11.00am Craigston MASS

7pm Castlebay MASS

9.20am    Eoligarry School service

12 Noon   Castlebay School service

12.45pm   Cobhair Bharraigh service

2.30pm    St. Brendan’s Home / Hospital service

 

Mass for the Institution of the New Canons: Everyone is invited to the special Mass of the instituting of the New Canons in St. Columba’s Cathedral in Oban on Tuesday 10th March at 7pm. Fr. John Paul  along with Fr. Michael Hutson, Fr. Roddy Johnston and Fr. William MacLean will become  Canons of the Cathedral chapter for the Diocese. All Welcome.

 

Recent Baptisms: we warmly welcome into the family of the Church Finlay MacLean who was baptised last Saturday 15th February in Our Lady Star of the Sea. Also we welcome into the family of the church Oliver MacNeil who was baptised last Sunday 16th February in Our Lady Star of the Sea. May God continue to pour his love and blessings upon Finlay and Oliver and upon their families and Godparents.

 

Special Collection: next weekend there will be  2nd collection for Scottish Catholic Education Service (SCES)

Mgr. Thomas Wynne: we remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of Mgr. Thomas Wynne who passed away on Thursday 20th February in Raigmore Hospital. Mgr Wynne was a well loved Priest in our  Diocese-over 60 years as a Priest. He ministered for many years in the Cathedral Parish in Oban, then in the parishes of Arisaig & Roybridge.  His Requiem is on Friday 28th February in St. Mary’s in Fort William. May he rest in God’s eternal peace. Amen.

 

Safeguarding Course:  for those involved in the work of parish Safeguarding children and Vulnerable adults there will be safeguarding course on Friday 28th February at 3pm in Castlebay Primary school. For all those involved with Children’s Liturgy they must attend this course in Castlebay School. The course will be led by Mrs Liz Chaplin who will travel down from Stornoway to do the course.

 

Vatersay Sunday Mass: next Sunday is the 1st  March and there will be Mass on Vatersay at 4.00pm.

 

Barra 200 Club: this is the “last call” for any subscriptions to be paid for the Barra 200 club.
