Bhileag 24th November 2019

Catholic Parliamentary Office: please pick up the letter at the church entrance from the Catholic Bishops in Scotland in regard the General Elections on Thursday 12th December. The Bishops have written a letter as a guide to help us discern our thoughts on the Election.

Vatersay Sunday Mass: next Sunday is the 1st December and there will be Mass on Vatersay next Sunday at 4.00pm -which is also the 1st Sunday of Advent.

The Season of Advent: is fast approaching. The season that help us prepare for Christmas. There will be some prayer books left out at all Masses next weekend for those who wish to do a little extra in their prayers for Advent. Also Advent is a lovely opportunity to make a good confession before Christmas. Please note on the weekend of 7th/8th December there will be a Xaverian Priest (Fr. John Convery) in the parish that weekend and he will be available for Confessions. So please keep that in mind!

Gaelic Prayer Book & Hymn Book: Fr. Ross over on Eriskay has been busy working away on trying to update a Gaelic Prayer book and also update our Gaelic Hymn Books. He is keen to meet with parishioners from all over the islands who have a good knowledge of their Gaelic prayers and Gaelic Hymns. The meeting will be on Thursday 5th December from 3pm-5pm in Northbay Hall.

Parish Gift Aid: it has taken a while for each of the Parishes to receive their Gift Aid money this year- thankfully each parish has now received their money. This year Castlebay Parish receives £9,763.22 and Northbay Parish recives £4,499.23. This is a wonderful way for our parishes to receive extra revenue especially through those parishioners who give their Sunday Collection as Gift Aid. If you pay Tax you should be giving your Sunday Collections as Gift Aid.

Graveyard Rosary: today the Rosary will be prayed in Borve Graveyard at 3.00pm. If the weather is poor then the Rosary will be prayed in the Craigston church.
